Day 0 (a.k.a. blowout day)
Start with clean hair. Any dirt, oil or product residue will impact how your blow dry turns outs, and how long it will last. Concentrate on your roots where the most grime accumulates.
Put that product down. Serums and sprays will leave a residue and weigh your hair down.
You can break that product ban. If your roots are looking a little flat, use a light hairspray and round brush. If it’s really humid, pull your hair back in a tight bun. You can do this if you want to work out and maintain your ‘do.
Dry shampoo time. Grab a small section of your hair and mist the underside, holding the can three to hour inches away from your scalp to avoid product overload.
You’re at the home stretch. Spritz your hair with a bit of water, and rough-dry. You’ll get body without that extra weight, crunchiness or product build-up.
Blow-dry your hair again with a round brush to mimic the original technique. Hit the roots with a bit of dry shampoo and you’ve got another day without shampooing.
