Perms in Perth
The perm has finally surpassed the poodle. With built in conditioners and health conscious chemicals, you can have volume and gloss. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. From arty Fremantle to sophisticated Subiaco, Perth boasts a range of quality salons that can help you achieve the body of your dreams. By body, we mean Body Wave.
This is the post-80’s perm. It’s a loose curl that is making waves. Whether you have fine hair and are looking more hold and body, or you have natural curls that need more definition this is the treatment for you.
- Prepare your hair -
This is a fairly intensive process, so it is important that your hair is in good condition. Literally. Condition your hair with a protein rich conditioners to reconstruct the hair shaft, promote strength and elasticity. You want to add strength rather than hydration because too much moisture can result in a weak perm.
- How does it work? -
Your stylist will wrap varied sections of your hair into larger rollers. Your stylist will apply a perm solution; your hair will begin to break down and disulfide bonds added to the hair shaft. These bonds create waves and curls. The entire process can take anywhere from two up to three hours. After your body wave, your stylist can add layers to your hair. This will balance your new style, and prevent the dreaded ‘triangle head’ effect.
- Style It -
Do you know what’s better than a hair dryer? An air dryer. After you take a shower, scrunch in a bit of leave-in moisturizer or anti-frizz serum and allow your hair to dry naturally. We like a little bit of sea salt spray for that tousled look.
- Hair Care -
The body wave can leave your hair feeling a little dry. Use a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. Use a comb rather than a brush on wet hair, because it is brittle when wet.
- How long does it last? -
The waves will relax after three to five months, but the perm will remain until your hair grows out.
