In the market for a bit of a tidy-up downstairs, but don’t want to go the whole Brazilian hog? A bikini wax is the treatment for you, and Bookwell have got you covered with some of the best waxing salons on the Mornington Peninsula.
A bikini wax basically removes all of the hair outside of your bikini line, keeping things groomed and gorgeous down there.
Whether you’re a first time waxer or a total hair removal junkie, here are some of the dos and don’ts to remember each time you hit the salon.
DO: Let the hair grow out before your bikini wax
You want the hair to be at least 1/4 inch long so the hot wax can properly grip onto the hair.
DON’T: Shave between appointments
It might be tempting to run a quick razor over the area once you notice regrowth, but this will totally undo all of that great waxing work. Once you’ve committed to regular bikini waxes, stay, don’t stray.
DO: Moisturise and exfoliate between waxes
It’s important to keep the skin in good condition to allow for healthy new hair growth. This means you must moisturise. Regular exfoliation helps to slough away dead skin cells and prevent ingrown hairs.
DON’T: Get sweaty, exercise or wear tight-fitting clothes after your wax
These things will all contribute to irritation and infection. Give the skin at least 24 hours to settle before getting your sweat on.
DO: Feel free to make occasional chit-chat or small talk with your waxing therapist. It’ll help the time pass quicker! So much more comfortable than stark silence.
DON’T: feel embarrassed or self-conscious
Remember, your waxing therapist might be a total stranger, but it’s their job. Looking after your lady bits is their livelihood! We promise they’ve seen it all before.
